Technology company Huawei and the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen mutual cooperation on clean energy in Latin America and the Caribbean. The signing ceremony was attended by Mason Qing, President of Huawei Digital Power LATAM, and Andrés Rebolledo, OLACDE’s Executive Secretary.
The alliance establishes a strategic collaboration framework to promote the transition to renewable sources, driving the exchange of technical knowledge and the development of continental energy infrastructure. One of its lines of action is green energy storage.
The collaboration will focus on technology promotion, including the exchange of information and best practices on clean technologies, as well as training and outreach through joint training programs in the countries where both entities operate.
“This agreement marks an important milestone in our commitment to Latin America and the Caribbean. Combining Huawei’s technological expertise in clean energy with OLACDE’s regional reach will allow us to support the energy transformation the region needs,” said Mason Qing.
For his part, Andrés Rebolledo, President of OLACDE, noted that “this collaboration is of vital importance in a context where new energy challenges emerge every day. We want to make progress on issues such as storage, which is key to the energy future of our region.”
The memorandum, valid for two years, includes OLACDE’s participation as a co-organizer of Huawei’s summits and events, while Huawei will provide support for the Energy Week that OLACDE organizes annually. In addition, specific training and certification programs will be developed for the sector.
