The Renewable Energy Generators Association (AGER) successfully held the second edition of the Renewable Energy Summit –SER 2026–, establishing this event as one of the leading regional platforms for strategic dialogue to drive the energy transition, long-term planning, and the development of the energy sector in Guatemala and Latin America.
SER 2026 brought together more than 600 participants from various sectors, including government authorities, business leaders, multilateral organizations, investors, international experts, and key players in the electricity industry. It also featured representatives from the Americas, Europe, and Asia, positioning Guatemala as a regional meeting point for analyzing the main challenges and opportunities in the energy sector.
During the Summit, Andrés Rebolledo, Executive Secretary of the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization, discussed the region’s new energy architecture, marked by a growing share of renewable energy, an accelerated electrification process, and increasing pressure from digital and industrial sectors demanding clean, reliable, and competitive energy.
In this context, he noted that Latin America and the Caribbean are emerging as a strategic region due to their high share of renewable energy, their vast solar, wind, and geothermal potential, and their key role in critical minerals and biofuels needed for the global energy transition.
He also emphasized that regional electrical integration, together with more flexible energy systems, the deployment of storage, and the development of smart grids, will be decisive factors in strengthening competitiveness, resilience, and energy security in the new low-carbon economy.
