We are pleased to announce the Second Regional Methane Summit of Latin America and the Caribbean 2025, to be held on July 23 and 24, 2025, in the city of Lima, Peru.
This event, organized by the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) together with Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) and the Global Methane Hub (GMH), will feature the participation of senior energy officials from the region, international financing organizations, NGOs, academic representatives, chambers, and companies from the oil and gas sector.
This summit stands as a strategic space to deepen the regional agenda on methane emission reduction, in a context for climate action marked by the presentation of new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the evaluation of the first Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs), and the return of COP30 to the region.
Over the course of two working days, high-level representatives from governments, multilateral organizations, energy sector companies, academic institutions, and technical actors will come together to exchange experiences, best practices, and innovative solutions aimed at the comprehensive management of methane in the oil and gas sector, as well as new opportunities such as biomethane.
The agenda includes:
- Technical panels on regulation, financing, transparency, and technology.
- Keynote presentations and sessions aimed at translating methane commitments into effective actions.
- The presentation of progress on OEMLAC and the Low-Emission Natural Gas Certification (GNBE).
This Second Summit establishes Latin America and the Caribbean as a region committed to fulfilling the Paris Agreement, promoting technical and political dialogue on methane, one of the most potent greenhouse gases and one with the greatest potential for short-term mitigation.
