The pandemic has shown several of the strengths of the electricity sector, but also its vulnerabilities. However, despite the drop in demand, the provision of electricity services has remained stable and reliable. With increasing digitization and the need to increase investments in green stimuli, how should regulators face the new challenges?

The pandemic has shown several of the strengths of the electricity sector, but also its vulnerabilities. On the one hand, in most of the countries of the region, the provision of electricity services was reliably maintained, even in a never-before-seen scenario of historical decreases. The pandemic showed the value of digital solutions for the internal work of companies, but also the relationship with customers. It also showed large gaps in this progress between different companies in the region.
