With the aim of promoting equitable, quality education through technology, the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) and the Embassy of Uruguay in Ecuador joined forces to provide computer equipment to the Escuela Fiscal República del Uruguay in Quito.
This inter-institutional contribution seeks to strengthen the school’s digital infrastructure, enabling modern learning methods for students and supporting teachers in the classroom.
The handover ceremony was held on May 18, coinciding with Uruguay’s commemoration of the Battle of Las Piedras. This historic backdrop served to highlight how technical and diplomatic cooperation can translate into tangible benefits for the social development of member countries.
The event was led by Andrés Rebolledo, OLACDE’s Executive Secretary; Fernando Sandín Tusso, Ambassador of Uruguay; and Patricia Bonilla, principal of the school. In their remarks, the officials emphasized that access to technology is a fundamental pillar for ensuring equal opportunities for new generations.
The day concluded with a cultural program put on by the students, who celebrated Latin American integration and identity through music and dance.
Through activities like these, OLACDE complements its technical and energy agenda with a firm commitment to human development and community well-being throughout the region.
