The Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) and the National University of Rosario (UNR) launched the third cohort of the Master’s in Energy Transitions, bringing together professionals from 10 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean. Regional diversity is one of the program’s main strengths, as it allows energy transitions to be analyzed from different national realities and strengthens knowledge and cooperation networks.
During the opening ceremony, OLACDE Executive Secretary Andrés Rebolledo highlighted the speed at which the global energy landscape is changing. Geopolitics, evolving markets, new technologies, and their impacts on Latin America and the Caribbean, he noted, require constantly updating knowledge and debate on energy transitions. Comparing this cohort to the first one, launched roughly two years ago, he pointed out that while there is a degree of technological continuity, the international context has changed significantly.
This scenario poses a strategic challenge for Latin America and the Caribbean: having professionals capable not only of understanding technological transformations, but also of anticipating their economic, regulatory, environmental, and social implications. The master’s program seeks to close the gap between technical knowledge, regulation, and innovation through interdisciplinary training geared toward decision-making in a sector undergoing constant transformation.
From the National University of Rosario, Darío Maiorana, director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, emphasized that the challenge is to train energy leaders who are technically competent while also able to understand the social and strategic dimensions of energy. He stressed that access to energy is closely tied to development, and that energy transitions must integrate environmental sustainability, inclusion, and economic and political factors.
One of the program’s core objectives is to strengthen foresight capabilities so that professionals can anticipate scenarios and influence the decisions that will shape the region’s energy future. This preparation is especially relevant given the rapid evolution of areas such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainable systems planning, geopolitics, electric mobility, and storage.
The third cohort began its academic activities on August 7, 2026. With this new edition, OLACDE and the National University of Rosario are deepening a partnership that places knowledge, regional cooperation, and specialized training at the center as strategic tools enabling Latin America and the Caribbean to respond to an increasingly complex and fast-moving global energy landscape.
