The Executive Secretary of the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE), Andrés Rebolledo, took part in the III Power & Renewable Energies Summit Guayaquil 2025, organized by Seminarium, a gathering that brought together government ministers, internationally renowned speakers, technical representatives from ministries and entities linked to the electricity and renewable energy sector, as well as banks, law firms, investors, and national and international media.
During his presentation on the 2025 Energy Outlook of Latin America and the Caribbean, Rebolledo emphasized that the region has an increasingly clean and diversified energy matrix, driven by the growth of renewable energy, regional electricity integration, and cooperation among countries.
He highlighted that Latin America and the Caribbean have a hydroelectric potential of 676 GW, and reaffirmed the region’s leadership in biofuels, which account for 27% of global production. He also underscored the importance of strengthening the resilience of electricity systems, accelerating the adoption of new technologies such as energy storage and green hydrogen, and promoting policies that ensure sustainable and inclusive investment throughout the region.
