The Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) took part in the International Summit on Sustainability and Environmental Innovation, held in Bogotá, represented by Mauricio Medinaceli, OLACDE consultant, who joined the panel “Transitioning to the Future: Energies for Decarbonization in Latin America” alongside authorities and leading figures from the regional energy sector.
During his remarks, OLACDE emphasized that the energy transition in the region cannot be understood solely as a response to climate change, but also as an indispensable economic and geopolitical strategy. To move forward successfully, he stressed, three simultaneous transitions must be addressed:
A labor transition, to relocate workers from fossil fuel industries.
A fiscal transition, to replace public revenue and royalties from oil and gas.
A trade transition, to ensure that Latin American exports do not face new environmental barriers in international markets.
Through its participation in this forum, OLACDE reaffirms its commitment to contributing technical knowledge and fostering spaces for dialogue that strengthen the energy transition in Latin America and the Caribbean, ensuring that it is fair, inclusive, and sustainable.
