The headquarters of the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) hosted the National Workshop on Building Women’s Energy Networks – Ecuador, an initiative led by OLACDE together with the Association of Women in Energy (AME).
During the opening, OLACDE’s Executive Secretary, Andrés Rebolledo, highlighted the need to incorporate gender equity as a cross-cutting focus in public policy and corporate management within the energy sector.
For her part, Gloria Alvarenga, OLACDE’s Director of Integration, Access, and Energy Security, underscored that: “To break down barriers, we must ensure that women’s voices and experience are an integral part of every decision.”
Likewise, Pía Suárez, President of AME, emphasized that the workshop seeks to build networks from civil society in coordination with the public and private sectors, stating: “We come not only to share successes, but also mistakes, so that each country can move forward from its own experience. This space is designed to talk, share, and build together.”
With this workshop, OLACDE reaffirms its commitment to inclusion, women’s leadership, and the creation of collaborative networks that strengthen women’s participation in the energy transition of Latin America and the Caribbean.
