{"id":20395,"date":"2025-05-30T12:33:32","date_gmt":"2025-05-30T12:33:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.olacde.org\/olacde-promueve-redes-electricas-modernas-y-resilientes-para-una-transicion-energetica-en-alc\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T14:18:21","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T14:18:21","slug":"olacde-promueve-redes-electricas-modernas-y-resilientes-para-una-transicion-energetica-en-alc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.olacde.org\/en\/olacde-promueve-redes-electricas-modernas-y-resilientes-para-una-transicion-energetica-en-alc\/","title":{"rendered":"OLACDE Promotes Resilient Electricity Grids"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) held the technical workshop <em>&#8220;Electricity Transmission in Latin America and the Caribbean: Modernization and Resilience of Electrical Grids&#8221;<\/em>, aimed at fostering the exchange of experiences and knowledge on the main advances, challenges and opportunities in developing modern, efficient and sustainable electrical grids in the region.<\/p>\n<p>This technical space focused on the importance of having resilient and digitalized electrical infrastructure capable of meeting the challenges of the energy transition with a vision of regional integration, operational efficiency and supply security.<\/p>\n<p>During his remarks, Fitzgerald Cantero Piali, Director of Studies, Projects and Information at OLACDE, stated:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sometimes it takes a blackout to understand what energy means. Grids must be modern, interconnected and stable to meet the needs of our countries.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cantero emphasized the need to strengthen international cooperation and plan grids as strategic infrastructure for future energy development.<\/p>\n<p>Lin Hongyu, GEIDCO&#8217;s Director General of Cooperation, noted: &#8220;Next-generation grids must integrate smart technologies, improve climate resilience and connect production and consumption in a dynamic and decentralized way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>GEIDCO proposed an international cooperation platform to boost robust electrical infrastructure, expand renewable generation and accelerate the transition toward sustainable energy systems in Latin America and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop also included a specialized panel on electrical integration and grid resilience in the region, moderated by Fitzgerald Cantero Piali.
