Monthly energy inflation <\/sup>in May 2025 fell to zero from 0.17% in April, the lowest figure since September 2024.<\/p>\n

12 of the 20 countries measured are experiencing negative or zero energy inflation, remaining within a range of 0% to -3.55%;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Annual energy inflation <\/sup>in the region has been rising since March 2025. In May it reached 1.55%. However, this figure is lower than the same month in 2024 (3.07%), which is related to a 2.25% drop in the international price of oil between May 2024 and May 2025, falling from US$83.59 to US$63.62 per barrel, respectively.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

International prices for crude oil, natural gas and coal trended downward over the period analyzed. In fact, as of May 2025 all three indices are below the level observed in January 2023. On the other hand, LAC’s energy inflation index does not follow this trend; in fact, the latest figure for May 2025 is 8.8% higher than the January 2023 level.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
