Quito hosted the third edition of the event “Energy Transition and Security in Latin America and the Caribbean,” which brought together specialists from across the region to discuss governance, financing, innovation and community participation within the framework of the energy transition.<\/p>\n
Representing the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE), Fitzgerald Cantero, Director of Studies, Projects and Information, took part in the first day, presenting on the “Global and Regional Context of the Energy Transition,” where he addressed trends, challenges and opportunities for Latin America and the Caribbean on the path toward sustainable, resilient and low-emission energy systems.<\/p>\n
He also joined the discussion panel on the Challenges of the Energy Transition in LAC, alongside representatives from academic institutions, multilateral organizations and regulatory bodies, in a collective reflection on the paths toward a just transition.<\/p>\n
For her part, Tatiana Castillo, OLACDE’s Legal Advisor, presented an analysis of the regulatory framework and public policies in the region, identifying opportunities, challenges and best practices for advancing the energy transition.<\/p>\n
In her remarks, Castillo emphasized that the energy transition is not solely an environmental goal, but a comprehensive strategy to drive sustainable development, ensure energy security, and promote energy justice and social inclusion. She also stressed the need for transformative policies, solid regulatory frameworks, green financing and the recognition of energy as a human right\u2014essential elements for advancing toward sustainable, secure and inclusive energy development in Latin America and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
