However, this figure has declined compared to the previous month due to dry weather conditions, particularly in the Andean and Amazonian basins, which has resulted in lower water flow. The use of natural gas continues to increase, driven by the need for backup capacity amid the intermittency associated with non-conventional renewable energy sources and by an increase in installed capacity for generation from this source. Hydroelectric generation has seen a slight recovery compared to July 2023, when severe droughts caused by El Ni\u00f1o significantly impacted its output.
